Border n° 7 of this expedition

July 3 2019. We finished up the day in Bratislava trying to match our schedule. Right at the frontier we run to check the Bunker BS-8 as it represents a Czechoslovakia WWII defense line, one of the hundreds built to defend the country from Hitler's rising threat.

Zwentendorf "Nuclear" Power Plant

Zwentendorf the world's nuclear power plant without radiation 
July 3 2019. When we had up to Zwentendorf in Austria i was hoping to stand on the only nuclear reactor accessible to tourists in the world, and that because it never went into work. Bad luck stroke since it was closed to visitors on that day due to a meeting in the facility. So that objective was postponed to another opportunity.

It is said that a country's democracy's quality stands on the daring of the people's referendum to face important challenges even at the cost of economy.  The Austrians did that on November of 1978 and that after expending millions building the Nuclear Power Plant, only a few months after being finished. Follow the referendum a law forbidding nuclear fission related to energetic ends come along. Twenty years later the Austrian parliament ruled an amendment to the constitution for an Austria Free of Nuclear on 1999.

Today the photovoltaic system at Zwentendorf produces 64% of the energy that the Nuclear Power would produce, which is quite impressive. In other words of the 700KW that would be generated by nuclear fission, 450KW can be produced with solar panels.
